Berkshire Maestros needs a new Music Centre. Working in partnership with the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, Maestros is seeking to create a safe environment for children and young people in and around Windsor to meet and make music, providing specialist facilities for tuition as well as large group music making.

    Situation

Berkshire Maestros is a children’s charity which has been providing musical opportunities to young people throughout Berkshire for over 25 years. As well as providing tuition in schools, Maestros also offers a wide range of after school activities at Music Centres based in Bracknell, Reading, Newbury and Windsor. Over 1000 children currently benefit from the wide range of activities on offer at the existing centre. They meet each week in fairly dilapidated buildings which are due for demolition in 2010. Maestros is working in partnership with the Royal Borough to ensure that basic facilities will be provided to allow Music Centre activities to continue. The estimated cost of the building project is £300,000. However, if we are to offer an enhanced experience for Windsor’s young people, then we need to raise an extra £100,000.
