The whole country has been moved by the heartbreaking images of Syrian refugees and asylum seekers and action is clearly needed to help those fleeing the desperate situation in Syria. York is ready to play its part in how to welcome Syrian refugees and asylum seekers. This appeal is part of what we can do at a local level alongside government agency activity.

York is one of thirty Cities of Sanctuary across the UK that offer vulnerable visitors a place of safety and helps integrate them into local communities. This appeal will provide much needed resources to support refugees and asylum seekers in York. Two Ridings Community Foundation is working with City of York Council and a number of local charities to provide an all encompassing support to people in need.
