    Situation

This project is aimed at getting more people to volunteer in disadvantaged areas of Nottingham. It particularly tries to recruit people who are traditionally less likely to volunteer. The volunteers it has recruited and placed in organisations include adults with very different needs. Some have problems of low self esteem or loneliness, others are struggling to find employment due to barriers of language, culture, disability, learning disability or mental health problems. People are encouraged to volunteer to help their community, to gain work experience, to meet new people or just to try something new. One to one support helps them to identify the right volunteer opportunity to suit them. A portfolio of current voluntary and community groups and volunteering opportunities is constantly updated, helping volunteers choose from varied voluntary job descriptions dependent upon their interests and skills.
