We are raising money for subsequent phases of restoration works to our ‘Capability’ Brown designed chapel, which dates from 1776-80. Restoration works will include reinstatement of the pews, pulpit, stained glass windows, re-plastering, re-decoration and the installation of lighting and heating.

    Situation

The chapel at Compton Verney has not been used at all since 1989. In May 2011 we began work on emergency repairs to the structure to safeguard it for the future and prevent it falling into further disrepair. We now need to raise funds for further phased building work to fully restore the chapel and enable us to use the building for a new programme of events for the public to enjoy such as musical concerts, lectures and poetry readings as well as to expand out wide-ranging learning activities.

    Solution

Experts will undertake further building work to include the installation of lighting and heating, full redecoration and re-plastering, reinstating pews and the reinstatement of stained glass. Also the consolidation of the Chapel terrace and reinstatement of the iron railings. All work is dependent on securing external funding.
