We have a tremendous team advising York citizens who have run into debt problems. We give them professional, impartial, non-judgemental advice to help them through times that are often the most difficult they have ever faced.

Situation
Debt advice is highly specialised and it needs a paid, professional team to deliver it. The current Government initially proposed ending the scheme on 31 March, but they accepted that the work was so vital that they found money to carry it on for another year but less than half of what we received last year. York City Council has also found some extra funding to support us. We expect the demand for this type of advice to increase sharply over the short to medium term.
Solution
We seek to inspire the citizens and businesses of York to give the CAB the money it needs to continue with the debt advice work. The more money we raise, the longer we can carry on. We have set ourselves a target of raising £100,000. That's an ambitious target, but we believe the people of York will appreciate the value of the work the CAB does in this area, and give us the help we need.
