Media Mentors

Matching a media mentor to a charity, a community, or a marginalised young person, to work with them on a communications project, can make all the difference to everyone involved. The organisations benefit from invaluable skills, advice and creativity; the communities can reach out; and the young person gains confidence, skills and voice - and the mentor's horizons are widened beyond belief.

Situation

Media Trust matches thousands of volunteer media and communications professionals to mentor charities, communities and young people across the UK, to give them more voice, enhance their communications, and enable them to reach out to more people. Our volunteers help build websites, make films, skill up charity staff and volunteers, and support young people to tell stories and have a voice. It costs us to do this matching - to bring people together, to make the right match, to support the match as it goes on, and to evaluate, and tell the story of, the impact. For £50,000 we can support and resource 500 more young people or charities; for £10,000 we can resource 100. Help us make this happen, and see the difference.
