New Writing South places authors, poets and playwrights in schools where they help inspire young people's imaginations, encourage their creativity and improve literacy standards.

Situation
Writers work in different ways with each school. Projects have involved: mixed groups, gifted and talented, hard to reach, mums and daughters, non-reading boys and many others. Results can include improved confidence and a new sense of enjoyment in reading and writing. "The students got more from this project than five literacy lessons a week" Year 6 Teacher, Hastings. Your donation will enable us to place writers in schools and work with young people we could not otherwise engage with. Our target of £20,000 will allow us to place up to six writers in schools over one year.
