In response to the recessions and the Spending cuts, we are launching a single Adviceline across York & N Yorkshire for residents to contact the CABs. The Adviceline will involve a rota of volunteers from all 9 CABs across the area answering the calls and will mean more clients can get our help.

    Situation

The Spending review, along with the budget and the current “sluggish” economy will mean even greater need for our help: • 490,000 public sector jobs to be lost • £18 billion cut to welfare spending, meaning that some of the most vulnerable people will have their incomes reduced significantly • Housing Allowance and spending on public sector housing have both been drastically cut This will mean more people need help with money, employment & housing advice.

    Solution

Hundreds of extra clients will be able to contact the CAB, they can more readily get the help we can provide and, where we are not the right agency, we can put them in touch with those who can help. We can provide advice on the key issues people contact with us, debt, benefits, employment and housing, along with pretty much anything people ask us about. We provide specialist Debt and Employment casework.
