Situation

Ethiopia is one of the worst African countries in relation to street children’s issues and spread of HIV/AIDS. As many studies suggested the number of street children in main cities/towns of the country was estimated to be between 100,000 – 150,000.For example, three cities/towns alone, in the Amhara region have been quoted to have around 15,000 street children.Dessie and Woldia in Wollo province,in which we intend to run part of the project, are among the identified towns.

Solution

We will meet the needs of the target groups by: Improving access to basic services: shelter, food, clothe, healthcare and education, as well as reunification of their families/relatives or finding foster carers, to meet their basic needs and improve their lives. Providing personal skills and vocational training and opportunities for employment and further /higher education for young people working or living on street that enable them to gain practical skills and qualifications.
