Student Secondary School Books for 2014 Year

Students need texts books! This year we need 140 texts books for the 42 students who Umoja is supporting to attend Secondary schools. Without texts books students will struggle to follow in class and not be able to do their homework. Text books are a necessity to learn.

In Tanzania most schools face extreme shortage of textbooks, desks, chairs, toilets, water supply, and hand-washing facilities. The pupil:qualified teacher ratio stands at 49:1 meaning that teachers struggle with large classroom sizes and cannot adequately cater for all student needs. To make matters worse for every 5 students 1 text book is available. Many of the books are in poor conditions from over use, incomplete and often outdated.

It is Umoja's objective to ensure that all the students we sponsor have the appropriate texts books to be able to achieve their bests during their education. Having the correct text book for themselves means that they can study independently at school or at home.
