The UK's coastal waters are under immense pressure from competing uses such as over-fishing, agregate extraction, renewable technologies, nutrient input, recreational use, shipping etc. The general public need to be fully informed about these issues in order to make lifestyle choices to minimise their impact on the oceans.
Solution
By educating primary, secondary and tertiary level students about the issues surrounding sustainable use of the oceans we can influence individual behaviour as well as policy.
