We would like to purchase a new wheelchair accessible minibus which meets the Low Emission Standards for travelling into the city of London. The minibus will enable a range of outings and activities within the city for physically disabled ex-Servicemen and Women from the Queen

    Situation

With London’s air pollution remaining a concern, from January 2012, the LEZ emissions standard will become more stringent. More vehicles will be affected, and those that are already will need to meet tighter standards. We currently have a minibus that was donated in 2007. Unfortunately the cost of adding a filter is more than the vehicle is worth. We expect this vehicle to run for another 4 years, but would be looking to replace it with a new one and thus the cost would be uneconomical.

    Solution

We are seeking support to help with the provision of a Low emission wheelchair accessible minibus to allow residents to travel comfortably and safely and enable trips into the centre of the city. Trips will include 3 London Rugby matches, St James Palace, Remembrance Sunday Cenotaph Parade, Buckingham Palace Annual Garden Party. The new minibus will qualify for the LEZ and have a Euro 5 Engine so no conversion will be needed.
