We want to provide more support for older private tenants and to increase their active engagement in our work through a new Pensioner Renters project. We wish to employ a designated worker to provide direct support to older people.

Situation
Older private tenants live in the worst housing conditions, often enduring cold, damp, un-modernised homes and suffering fuel poverty and landlord neglect. Despite this, private tenants are rarely seen as a ‘worthy cause’ for charitable giving and do not evoke a ‘feel-good’ factor among potential donors
Solution
The project will result in an improved quality of life for older private tenants and the alleviation of poverty, isolation and stress. Older private tenants will benefit from more, and more comprehensive, advice and support. Older private tenants will be able to make more informed choices about their future.
