We are going to demolish the existing church halls and build a new 9,000 sq ft facility which will provide office space, a flat for a church worker and a range of community spaces ranging from a purpose designed space for mums and toddlers and a large space for community events with seating up to 180.

Situation
The existing site is right at the heart of our community and is the only facility with free town centre parking. The church needs to provide community space at the heart of the community not just for basic services such as funerals and weddings but also for parenting, marriage preparation, Business Link, Citizens Advice and hoprfully debt counselling. We are hoping to start building the £1,500,000 scheme early in 2011 and we so far have 43% of the funding requirment committed including a large grant from Devon County Council. We have a large funding bid to be submitted to the South West Regional Development Agency and this will bring us up to 86% committed funds - at which point we will be able to get a mortgage or loan for the balance.
