    Situation

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the most common and most severe form of Muscular Dystrophy. It usually affects boys and is diagnosed at around three years of age. It starts in the leg muscles before quickly progressing to other muscles groups, restricting the children first to walking aids, then wheelchairs before eventually leading to death. Most children with DMD do not live beyond their early twenties. The illness is also hereditary and so often more than one boy in each family will inherit this cruel condition. At any one time our team can be working on up to 20 wishes for children fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Their wishes, like the wishes of all our children, can be as wide-ranging as a child’s imagination. Often they are related to aspirations they have for themselves but will sadly never achieve; to be James Bond for the day, to meet their favourite entertainer, to drive a quad bike, to learn to be a dolphin trainer. With the average cost of a wish being £4,000, to fund these 20 wishes we require sponsorship of £80,000. Sponsoring the wishes of our children fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy would bring moments of magic to around 20 children and their families.
