Situation

There are 3 main problems that we are trying to solve. There are no private areas for our patients to sit with their family and friends. For patients with mobility problems, which could be anything from being confined to a wheelchair to being cachectic, access to the garden is limited to pathways running around the borders of the garden. There are no facilities for our patients to do a little gardening. They often tell us how they would like to but are unable to bend down to a flower bed.

Solution

We will create outdoor spaces with high hedges to provide privacy to those patients wishing to spend precious time with their families. We will create pathways right through the garden so that our patients can get close to the colourful and scented flowers. We will also create a labyrinth, a meditative walk, which has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety in 95% of patients. We will provid e raised planting beds for our patients to do a little gardening themselves with volunteer support.
