The Challenge Society is a year-round youth and community project. The project helps to build stronger communities by bringing people together. We empower people from socially diverse backgrounds to collectively impact their communities, whilst providing personal development opportunities for youth.
It ran from 12:00 PM, 1 November 2012 to 12:00 PM, 1 October 2013

It is well documented that trust in the UK is lacking; UK trust levels have fallen dramatically in the last fifty years with trust levels amongst young people in the UK being the lowest in Europe. Low trust levels cement deep rooted segregation and divides our communities. Active participation in one's community is one way to build trust. However, despite the benefits of community engagement, ~65% of young people that participate in The Challenge Network's programmes have never volunteered.
The Challenge Society enables people from different backgrounds to come together and use their combined resources to best effect within their communities. Young people organise and participate in social action days, are signposted towards volunteering opportunities within their local community and take part in skills and personal development workshops and conferences. All programmes are delivered in partnership with local businesses, charities and community organisations.
