    Situation

There are lots of schools in Teso. The styles of teaching are similar throughout the schools. Much international and local support goes into these schools to provide different teaching techniques and classroom management skills. Our vision is to create a school where teachers and students are valued. Where teachers have continual professional development, teach to a varied and balanced curriculum, have time for leisure activities and where children have the space to feel comfortable and learn without the fear of the cane. Our vision is a school built with sustainable, locally produced resources such as compressed earth bricks. We will use rain water harvesting techniques, composting toilets and renewable energy techniques such as solar panels. Our school will cater for students from P5 up to A-level. It will also include vocational training institutes where students can learn about renewable building techniques, agriculture, and tailoring and ICT courses. Why only Teso? Teso is one of the poorest areas of one of the poorest countries in the world. However, we would like this school to be a beacon for other schools. We will offer training to other teachers across Uganda and hopefully East Africa. We will provide exchange programmes so that teachers from other countries can learn about what we are doing and spread the message. So why not support a school, which is more than just a school. It’s an institute of learning not just for its students, but for teachers and governments across Uganda and East Africa. We have been donated the land for the school, which is on the border of the Soroti and Kumi Diocese in Teso. We already have architects designing and drawing detailed plans for the school.
