    Situation

The KeepOut scheme operates a five day programme throughout the year at HMP Coldingley and a two day programme at HMP Send, each day caters specifically for the groups of young people attending taking into account the varying needs and level of intervention required. Each year the project works with around 1600 young people aged between 13 to 17 years old. Due to the popularity of the project we have a high demand of groups wishing to demand, and our waiting list is six months long. Due to the success at these prisons and the demand for groups wishing to attend we are aiming to replicate the module at HMP Downview a category C prison in Sutton, Surrey. We will be running a two day workshop each week within HMP Downview tackling issues such as anger management, personal responsibility, enhanced perception of victims, realities of deprivation in prison, drugs misuse, offensive weapons and antisocial behaviour. By replicating the scheme at HMP Downview we hope to help tackle our ever increasing waiting list and impact the young people lives attending the scheme. The new scheme will also allow the prisoners within HMP Downview to gain valuable training and qualifications. The total cost to replicate the project at HMP Downview totals £27,222. This total cost is made up of the following staff costs, prisoner training, coordinator fees and start up costs.
