Youth Vision

Youth Vision

We are currently working with high schools within Midlothian, including the Wester Hailes Education Centre, situated in one of Edinburgh’s most deprived areas. Youth Vision aim to work alongside the Curriculum for Excellence to address the needs of troubled young people by involving them in the restoration and development of a traditional farm steading.

We have moved from woodland near Balerno to an old farm steading within the Pentland Hills Regional Park and now we are seeking funds for 2010 when we will focus on renovating and developing the building and restoring it to a safe, working structure. We will use the land around it to develop traditional skills and plant traditional trees and hedges. The drystane dykes will be rebuilt and the youth groups will participate and learn from local craftsmen, storytellers, archaeologists and heritage groups in order to encourage successful learning, enhance educational attainment and strengthen community identity.
