    Situation

Due to the urgent need to bring together emerging Palestinian and Israeli leaders at a time of political stagnation, the Peres Center has teamed up with a number of Palestinian NGOs to jointly facilitate the "Palestinian-Israeli Young Political Leaders" program. Since 2004, the program has been bringing together emerging Palestinian and Israeli political leaders from various political parties and public administration bodies to participate in joint dialogue workshops in neutral locations. The joint workshops bring the participants together to discuss contemporary issues in an open and tolerant environment, thereby creating a platform for cooperation, and allowing the participants to broaden their perspectives and increase their understanding of key issues related to the conflict. The project also includes capacity building professional training aimed at honing and strengthening the participants’ leadership skills. Importantly, this program has brought together emerging political leaders that would otherwise not have had an opportunity to meet one another including participants from the right wing of the Israeli political map such as Likud, Haichud Haleumi, Shas, Mafdal and Agudat Israel and Palestinian representatives from Fatah, Fida, Palestinian People's Party, PFLP and more. The funds raised on The Big Give site will be used to sponsor five participants throughout the 2009 – 2010 cycle of the project.
