    Situation

Med-Tales is an educational peace building project for children and youth, designed to promote cross-cultural understanding and respect for other cultures, while instilling in children the love of reading and story-telling. The project, in its initial phase, will be carried out by a team of four Mediterranean NGO partners who have come together due to a shared interest in this subject. The partners will turn a selection of outstanding Mediterranean tales into online videos, in which children's icons and celebrities read aloud the translated versions of the chosen stories. The stories selected will tell something about the culture and identity of the country of origin and/or convey a message of respect for the "Other". The videos will be hosted in an online child-friendly web-portal, to be created as part of the project. The portal, which will also offer educational fun activities for kids, based on the stories, will be utilized for didactic and cultural purposes in a wide range of educational centers, to get children interested in reading and enhance their appreciation of other cultures and languages. The program's multiplier effect lies in the ease with which Med-Tales can be distributed, accessed, and built upon. The funds raised on The Big Give site will be used towards the global project budget.
