We want to be able to offer the Skatepark free to all the UK for use in the summer holidays, giving children & young people a facility to use daily for little or no cost throughout the 6 week holidays.

    Situation

In the 6 week holidays of 2009 we provided the skatepark for free every day - including weekends - to all members of the public under 18yrs, those over 18 were charged £2 entry, throughout the summer we received a total of 8'500 visitors averaging 330 people a day & allowing somewhere for everyone to play/ hang out. bbc report - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8183789.stm This year we aim to provide the facility again for the UK to use but not only host it free, we intend to develop projects with the local Police, Council & Youth Service to allow more children access to the facility & provide more activities for all involved. The local police will be hosting competitions to allow children to get to know their local officers on a first name basis, & the youth service will continue to offer advice & support to all visitors. To accomplish this we need to raise in the region of £40'000 to cover general costs. If you would like to know more please feel free to contact me elliott@theworksskatepark.com Many thanks Elliott
