Positive activities have a transformational effect on young people's outcomes in later life. They help them to make new friends, learn new skills and enable a sense of belonging. They also provide access to positive adult role models and peers and help to build resilience, particularly during adolescence when life can be complicated and challenging. Many young people access arts and sports groups but some, those most in need, are often not able to do so.
We aim to raise funds to provide 50 new Big Break awards. Participants will tell us that they have enjoyed themselves, have made new friends, have learnt new skills, are proud of what they have achieved and that they want to continue to do more activities outside school. Our partners will tell us that they have seen improvements at home and in school such as better family relationships, improvement at school, a reduction in anti-social behavior where relevant and increased positive attitudes.
