    Situation

The existing Home no longer meets the accommodation regulation and standards as set down in the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001. The Act requires that all residents have single room accommodation with en-suite facilities and small group living units are encouraged as the way forward for residential care accommodation. Phase 2 of our development plan is the construction of a purpose built Care Home comprising 3,460 square metres on two storeys. this new build will meet the regulations and standards laid down in the Act referred to above. The model of care will be based on small group living units with single room accommodation with en suite facilities. The accommodation will provide a more homelike environment for Service Users and will facilitate their return to the community where possible. The Home will be built on land already owned by William Simpson’s, to the north of the stable block. The existing stable block will be renovated to provide ancillary facilities and will be linked to the new home by means of a covered walkway.
