    Situation

Quality opera productions outside of London are hard to find. They are even harder to find if you want them to be affordable. They are harder still to find if you don't want just mainstream opera but want to try something rare.

    Solution

Buxton Festival will fill this gap in the artistic landscape of the UK by presenting a programme of quality, rarely performed opera at affordable prices in the beautiful setting of the Peak District. The Festival dates are 7 – 25 July. Our opera programme is: • Handel’s Jephtha, conducted by Harry Christophers • Intermezzo by Strauss, conducted by Stephen Barlow • A double bill of The Maiden in the Tower by Sibelius and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Kashchei the Immortal, directed by Stephen Lawless
