Situation
The project currently houses 7 homeless people providing work and a future. Emmaus Sheffield is housed in a former cutlery factory which is a grade II listed building in the heart of Sheffield. The intention is to refurbish part of the building to expand the Community, thus offering more support to homeless men and women in and around Sheffield. Expanding the building will also mean expanding the social enterprise which offers low cost goods to those on low incomes and who are being rehoused. Expanding the business will mean helping to further reduce landfill. Refurbishment of the building will preserve a valued pice of heritage dating back to the 18th century. The plans have been drawn up and tenders agreed. Fundraising is ongoing from trust and local government bodies.
