We want to provide much needed resources for people with autism in the West Midlands at our new Head Office site in Birmingham. The money raised will help create a Learning Resource Centre, a Sensory Room, a Social Cafe and a Training Suite for individuals with autism, their familes and careres.

    Situation

There are currently very few dedicated services for people with autism in the West Midlands area. Resource provision typically focuses on learning disabilities or mental health issues, and individuals with autism often miss out on opportunities to enjoy specialist resources. With approximately 10,000 people with autism in the Birmingham area, the need for resources decidated to these individuals is huge. There is also a big demand for autism specific training from families and carers.

    Solution

We are hoping to create a Learning Resource Centre, which will offer a small library, study area, and computer facilities, a sensory room, an informal social cafe area for people to drop-in and use, and a training suite.
