The Pumphouse in Aldeburgh is an informal performance venue where musicians, comedians, poets and artists show a variety of their work to the community. A good deal of acts come to The Pumphouse in preparation for The Edinburgh Fringe - a strong connection between Aldeburgh and Edinburgh exists. Sadly this hugely popular victorian building is small and limited and needs a modest extension to ensure its future use for all kinds of artists, amateur and professional.

Peter Mulgrew, Aldeburgh Music's Box Office Manager and Kate Lloyd, Individual Donations Manager have taken the bold and slightly foolhardy step of volunteering to run 26 miles in the Edinburgh Marathon to raise funds for The Pumphouse refurbishment. The Pumphouse needs a small foyer with bar area, dressing rooms and new toilets. Yes, it always comes back to toilets in the end. They need your help to raise £70,000 in total for the project to be able to go ahead. Donations big or small will make a huge difference. (Ahem) They have already started their training and are out in the early cold windy mornings pounding the Suffolk lanes, so please support them in their efforts and encourage them. Edinburgh is rather hilly!
