Jigsaw found people’s problems rarely fit into one neat box and that many people find themselves pushed from pillar to post before finding the right service. The Jigsaw Support Scheme was set up in 2000 to combat these problems. It is designed to be the common sense way to help people retain their choices, get access to the right services and to stop people falling through the net of existing service provision. Jigsaw helps these people by providing support, information and recreational activities to help them remain independent in their own home and achieve a good quality of life. Our Direct Support Service offers a free, tailored support package. To date we have helped over 700 people through this service. The support is delivered by one of our trained support workers in the individual’s home. We provide support with many issues including, but not limited to, accessing services, building confidence, help with finances and budgeting and providing advocacy where needed. Jigsaw have been established for almost eight years and in that time have helped over 700 people in Mansfield and the surrounding areas. We have developed an excellent reputation among our service users and the other organizations with which we work. At present we are restricted in who we can help by our funders. Ideally we would like unrestricted funding to enable us to help a wide range of people in need of our support. The money requested would fund the general running costs of the charity including salary costs of 6 support workers, a support coordinator, charity manager and admin support for 3 years.
