    Situation

Café Coast and Inspire Conferences, two of Inspire’s social enterprise companies, provide some of the training and employment opportunities mentioned under Inspire's Employment Scheme. Café Coast and Inspire Conferences opened to the public on 16th November 2007, two months ahead of schedule and already employ threeindividuals with learning disabilities. All individuals have benefited greatly from their employment helping to reduce their feelings of isolation, increasing their life skills - both social and economic, promoting their independence and family welfare. The facilities are open to the public and their main aims are: • To provide employment and training for people with learning disabilities • To provide vital work experience and core skills for ‘moving’ into mainstream employment • To actively break down social barriers and start the community integration process Café Coast can enable up to 60 people with learning disabilities to access its specific workplace training programme which will offer both training and paid work-placements. The facilities include a double kitchen which allows our training programme to operate simultaneously with our employment programme. This adds a realistic dimension to the training programme as it is being delivered in a working environment. The programme will provide recognised vocational qualifications including SVQ’s in Catering and certificates in areas such as Hygiene & Food Handling.
