The New Wheelz Appeal is raising funds to buy a new minibus for the Meath, that is specially adapted for use by disabled people. The Meath has a fleet of vehicles that is essential to delivering our ethos: to encourage our residents to live as independently as possible and enable them to live life to the full. Our vehicles transport more than 60 residents (some of whom have physical disabilities and most of whom have learning disabilities as well as severe epilepsy), to a raft of activities, including adult education classes, external activity centres, day trips, evening entertainment, holiday destinations, places of worship and medical appointments. Activity plays an important role in reducing the frequency of seizures as well as providing a link between our residents and their local community. We recently sold a small minibus that was no longer meeting our needs effectively and now wish to replace it with a larger model. The new minibus will cost around £30,000 and we have raised £10,000 to date from a range of community sources.
