Creating a Country Park owned and managed for the community to provide a fantastic local facility and create income. The park will have fishing lakes, wildlife areas, walks, an eco friendly “Earth Ship” building and regular music events.

Situation
Newstead Village has a population who are identified as having low to moderate incomes with a national ranking of 11099 on the indices of multiple deprivation. Although the location falls outside the 10% most deprived communities by SOA, both the village and the site are in the Nottinghamshire coalfields and are deprived areas. True level of deprivation is masked by surrounding areas of affluence such as Ravenshead, Papplewick and Linby
Solution
As the project evolves there are chances for people to volunteer and to create new jobs improving the social fabric of the village, community cohesion, training, housing, transport and leisure. The ten-year Parish Plan had a response rate of 45% and identified the following needs – many of which this project addresses: - Unemployment, Anti social, Lack of opportunities, Low aspirations, Poor image, Lack of access to parks, amenities and health care.
