Situation
West Kilbride and North Ayrshire as a whole will see a growth in the over 65 age group significantly greater than the rest of Scotland; it is also acknowledged as having a higher incidence of 16–19 year olds not in education or employment. A rural area, access to wider ammenities is limited therefore the project aims to reduce the isolation of older residents and integrate younger residents into community life whilst widening local community representation across generations in our organisation
Solution
1) Increase access to cultural and social activities. 2) Focus on making the arts and craft accessible and practicable by as many learners as possible. 3) Place particular emphasis on youth empowerment and active engagement in the planning and delivery of services 4) Improve skills, confidence and community capacity and cohesion across all generations via the establishment of a Youth Shadow Management Committee and Cross Generational Forum
