2 full scholarships for students to attend Atlantic College: Atlantic College is unique in one central regard - its commitment to scholarships on merit, regardless of race, religion, politics and the ability to pay. We want to continue giving young people giving young people life-changing experiences and opportunities, regardless of where they come from. Of the student body, around 70% receive some sort of financial assistance, many on full scholarship. This brings a special dimension to the community here, creating an incredible and culturally rich melting pot. As a result, our students reflect the realities of what has been referred to as ‘the global village’; they share authentic personal experiences from all parts of the world. From the wealthy to the poor, from areas of peace to regions of conflict, they come together to examine the world vicariously through the lens of a variety of world faiths. As they learn to share their limited space in dormitories and to adapt their lifestyles to accommodate each other’s customs and cultures, they are drawn together ultimately by their common humanity, touched and inspired by each other’s lives and not driven apart by the veneer of cultural or political difference.

    Situation

By supporting a student or students at the College over a 2 year period, you are making a truly generous gift to the College. It is a wonderful opportunity, should you wish, to develop a personal relationship with Atlantic College and to create a bond with your sponsored student(s) as you share the highs and the lows, the successes and the challenges of College life. We will work with you to select, if possible, a student matching any particular criteria you have. We want to bring you right into the heart of the College; you dictate the level and frequency of contact. Our Scholarship donors take great personal delight in getting to know their scholars and are very much aware of the enormous difference they’re making to one young person’s life. As a Foundation, Trust or Corporation, you may wish to illustrate your CSR commitment and policy by profiling your sponsored student(s) in your Annual Report and also inviting the students to speak at your AGMs. Atlantic College’s Unique Educational Programme: High academic standards and achievements are balanced by opportunities for personal development. The educational programme is designed to help students develop and fulfil their own potential whilst recognising and responding to the needs of others – so that they grow educationally, both for their own benefit and for the benefit of their communities. Students study for the International Baccalaureate and, on average, 95% of Atlantic College students attain the IB Diploma every year. Approximately 90% of students attend universities around the world, including Ivy League Colleges, Harvard Business School and other top-ranking Colleges in the US. Many go on to work in all sectors, form humanitarian and legal to business, environmental and foreign affairs in countries across the world A particularly rewarding element of College life is the community service and activity programme, a dimension unique to the IB curriculum worldwide. This makes the College’s commitment to living international ideals through action and example an everyday reality. The students for example are responsible for manning the local RNLI Lifeboat and Lifeguard service; others work at the local Childline Centre, a national helpline in the UK, similar to The Samaritans but created for children and young people.
