    Situation

The Discover Greenwich exhibition tells a story that starts with the early Tudor Palace at Greenwich, and continues with the development of the Royal Hospital for Seamen and the lives of the Greenwich Pensioners. It looks at the Royal Naval College and its role as a centre of education for Royal Naval Officers, and latterly as a Joint Services College. Finally, the story is brought up to date with displays concerning Greenwich and its place within London today. Discover Greenwich places an emphasis upon the role of learning, architecture and craftsmanship in the development of the Old Royal Naval College, both as a changing institution and an important group of buildings. The exhibition will make use of a variety of media and display formats to present archaeological finds, architectural test pieces, and personal narratives to bring the history of the site to life. The Discover Greenwich interpretation and learning centre will include a dedicated learning suite, which will be a fully resourced and multi-functional space, designed to be used for various activities and by different age groups. The education programme will draw on the Discover Greenwich exhibition, creating links to the National Curriculum for schools, and a programme of interpretation and workshops for different audiences within the community. A series of special exhibitions will occupy the temporary exhibition space.
