Kidsgrove Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps is looking to diversify in order to provide a wider range of musical education to young people. Not only providing thrills and magic to the participants from one of the most deprived areas in the city of Stoke-on-Trent but also to the audiences we play in front of in mainland Europe. Sharing expertise to a wider audience and ultimately competing in an arena that is known as the home of Drum Corps. USA

    Situation

Each year the Corps, which comprises a fully complimented brass section, marching and static percussion sections and a colour guard, competes in up to eight shows throughout the UK and has more recently achieved success in competitions in mainland Europe. Current UK Champions. The marching part of the Corps performs a choreographed music and marching show on a football field sized arena. An integrated marching and dance routine is performed by the colour guard using various props such as flags, rifles and sabres. The complete package is then performed in competition and public engagements in the Kidsgrove area and around the country. Traditionally, the Corps has rehearsed a show throughout the winter period and this has been performed in exhibition and competition throughout the summer season. However, during the next 12 months, the organisation is looking to diversify this method in order to provide a wider range of musical education to young people. During the Winter 07/08, the corps membership will also be performing a choreographed ‘indoor’ programme consisting of music played by brass instruments, singing and percussion accompaniment. This programme will be performed at various indoor venues, shows and locations throughout the UK between January and July. We are in the process of raising funds to tour the UK, mainland Europe and in the forseeable future take our skills to the home of Drum Corps back to the USA to march in the international championships. Bringing the drum corps home to the people of the USA, entertaining and thrilling audiences in a summer of excellence and exhilaration.
