Situation

Our work on The Estate has highlighted multiple needs with the young people: • Beneficiaries live on the margins of society. • Many have low self esteem, little hope for their future, a limited ability to take opportunities, and negative attitudes and behaviours towards their community. • The majority of their families receive State or Local Authority Benefits due to low incomes or worklessness. • These young people are at risk of exclusion from school and becoming NEET

Solution

Working with ex-offenders, school pupils at risk of exclusion and young people (aged 8-24) the centre will offer: • Positive activities for children and young people, which improve mental and physical health and well being • Support to the community to engage with social justice issues through providing practical volunteering opportunities • Support, training and employment through social enterprise • Community festivals and events, which encourage community cohesion
