We are based in the one of the most deprived areas of Liverpool. Some of our children arrive in our Nursery from troubled homes which affect their sense of well-being. We want to help them settle in quickly by helping them to adjust to their new setting and calming them down when traumatised. We therefore want to train our staff and staff from other childcare settings in Liverpool in baby & toddler massage techniques.

    Situation

Children, just as much as their parents, can be traumatised by arguments and other problems at home. Childcare staff in Nurseries are ideally placed to help these children calm down when they arrive at Nursery and help them to overcome their distraught state. Baby and toddler massage is a proven method of helping the child to overcome their trauma and relax after suffering upset. Our own Nursery welcomes children from all sorts of backgrounds including lone parents and those who do not have English as their first language. Massage is therefore a technique that doesn't rely upon communication. Many other Nursery staff from across Liverpool would also benefit by this training and we have the ideal facilities to run these courses to help them cope better with traumatised children.
