    Situation

Young people, aged 13-19 years, who are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education and training, due to personal and family difficulties, drug and alcohol problems and anti-social behaviour, are encouraged to relate their own lives to immediate and wider community issues that affect them. Practical ways to break cycles of violence and aggression are explored as the trainer examines areas of conflict through innovative learning methods e.g. role-play and ICT. The aim is to empower these young people to take an effective and positive role in their learning and community by developing their confidence, non-violent conflict resolution and conflict management, awareness, self-esteem and social skills. This gives young people improved skills for employability and life skills, giving them more equal opportunity to succeed in the work place.
