This OCN accredited programme offers young people aged 11-16 years the opportunity to learn skills to enable them to tackle issues of prejudice, violence, discrimination and racism in their schools. Aimed at specific areas of need, the programme is tailored to meet the needs of each individual community or school. The aim is to enable young people to make positive changes within their peer groups so they can then fe-focus on their learning.

    Situation

The first programme ran in Leeds at the school one of the 7/7 bombers attended. Due to the success of this programme, the Foundation now has requests for this work in other parts of the country. Each programme works with approximately 70 - 90 young people and their teachers and costs approx £60,000 for the year. The Foundation has a waiting list of communities who want us to run this programme with their young people from as far afield as London to Burnely. Funding is needed to secure this work.
