    Situation

To pilot a programme of conflict resolution and citizenship which is centred around six key values or ‘Foundations of Peace’. The programme will engage all members of the school community including students, lunch time supervisors, teachers, senior managers and governors. Programme aims: to identify the needs of individual schools and to actively engage and support students and staff in the design of a tailored programme of activities/interventions to address those needs. This programme will would work by providing a 'Charter for Peace’ framework of standards which will enable schools to measure current practice and will support the implementation of further policies, practices and activities to enhance an ethos of co-operation, tolerance and positive attitude between all school members. This will in turn impact on the academic and personal development of students. Upon successful completion of the programme the school will be awarded ‘Charter for Peace’ status.
