We provide a high quality advice service to the citizens of Birmingham this service is provided by volunteers and some paid staff by utilising the databases we hold on computer and the internet which has become our greatest tool in researching issues and finding the most viable solution. Unfortunately within 1 year 25% of our computers will be unable to run the basic software we require to complete our work. The remainder of our hardware will be slow, prone to failure and soon too will be unable to cope with the increasingly computer based work that we do for the citizens of Birmingham. This Money would enable us to- 1.Upgrade all necessary hardware and software to a workable level. 2.ENsure that all members of staff and volunteers have a dedicated workstation to facilitate the work that we do. 3.Introduce an ICT maintenance and upgrading policy to ensure future IT resources are maintained to a level indicative of a service of our size. 4.To set up a website which will allow online advice, providing a vital link to those who cannot attend one of bureaus. 5.Ensure that all 5 of our bureaus plus 4 satellite offices and the district office have the resources to meet the demand that England’s second city richly deserves. 6. To put in place a central server to unify our various offices and ensure all outlets have access to the same top level information.
