Running a successful Community Transport operation requires a significant amount of revenue funding to cover core costs and salaries. We need to attract donations or sponsorship to enable us to "Keep on Running" and providing a high standard of transport provision to groups and projects in East Durham.

    Situation

We provide affordable and accessible transport for the benefit of the deprived communities of East Durham and the surrounding areas. We have an ever increasing membership which currently stands at 178 community and voluntary groups and we will exceed 40,000 passenger journeys in 2007. We may not be one of the "sexier" charities, but without us many charities and community project would not be able to access key services, activities, opportunity and social inclusion. We operate a fleet of 10 minibuses including vehicles specially adapted to carry wheelchairs and other mobility aids and the rurality plus low car ownership (as low as 50% in some villages) means that our services are vitally important to local people. We carry people from sports groups, disabled groups, young people, older people, religious groups, womens institutions, ethnic groups, marginalised groups, and many more. We need to cover £100,000 per annum to cover our core costs.
