The Wall Eden Project has been developed by one of our former clients, someone who himself suffers from a brain injury. It is situated on a working farm and provides holiday / respite accommodation for people with disability, in particular those with brain injury, together with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience. The project needs investment to upgrade the facilities and to increase the amount of accommodation provided.

    Situation

Currently the project has two log cabins, built to a high specification, both of which were designed and built by our former client, with some help. The cabins have full disabled access and have been developed in such a way as to allow carers to stay with their relative if they so wish. The project provides a whole variety of pursuits, such as fishing, archery and nature safaris, but also gives residents the chance to learn new skills and to gain work experience. We use the project regularly to give our own clients the chance to acquire skills in this way. The project manager wishes to expand by building two or three additional cabins, but more particularly to upgrade the site itself and to make good use of the large barn adjacent to the accommodation. Currently this is used in a variety of ways, but has enormous potential for use as a building where clients can gain valuable skills and to provide a much needed leisure facility. The site generally is gradually improving, but needs a real injection of investment to bring it up to a good standard. Areas such as Reception need to be upgraded in order to provide a more professional ambience and the project manager also wishes to develop a skills workshop, where clients can learn how to do woodwork, repair a range of different items and gain skills they can use in the workplace. The project has embarked on a successful marketing campaign, but needs the extra investment to bring it up to a much higher standard and become a place where the disabled can enjoy a worthwhile and stimulating break, whilst learning skills and developing their own self esteem.
