Situation

A major issue our beneficiaries struggle with is loneliness and social exclusion. This is because they hesitate to access social opportunities due to the low self-esteem, confidence, motivation and empowerment they suffer from as a result of their social and economic disadvantages such as coming from BME communities and low-income families.

Solution

Based on past projects' evaluation, feedback from participants and their parents, and focus groups with participants we have identified that the most effective way of combating this problem is by running a project that presents a multi-faceted approach to targeting exclusion. This will ensure we are able to target the actual social exclusion including its causes and effects, which are often the same and cause a vicious cycle.
