We are moving to a new long term home and need to raise vital funds to provide quality production facilities for our studio holders and members. In addition, the building will be a centre for all people of Glasgow and beyond to learn about, participate in and see world class contemporary sculpture.
It ran from 10:00 AM, 6 December 2010 to 10:00 AM, 4 January 2011
The current studios premises is temporary and as a result little investment can be made in improving its physical structure. Although the studios provide substantial artist facilities an upgrade will be required. Similarly, there is limited space and access for the general public to engage with the work of the studios. This impacts upon the organisations ability to deliver community engagement programmes, run public courses in contemporary sculpture or involve schools in the exhibition programme
The move to new, improved premises will address both the physical and intellectual needs of artists and audiences. It will create opportunities for artists practice development via access to a sustainable base, where specialist equipment, not available at any other location in the city, will enable them to create new work.Similarly the centre will be purpose built to expand the public course programme, provide workshop space for schools and community groups and have a fully accessible gallery.
