A number of improvements to the hospice building have facilitated significant enhancements to the quality and nature of the services provided. All changes have enriched the environment for patients. However, the Hospice strives to always look for areas where we can improve facilities. An area identified for improvement by those recently surveyed was our ward. There is no doubt that the ward is extremely safe and clean, but there are aspects where a small change will make a big difference.

Quality sits at the centre of all that the Hospice does. Our vision is that all adults within South Cumbria with a life-limiting condition will have high quality care and support at the end of their life in the place that they choose. By making these changes to the courtyard and making improvements to the physical environment of our ward– new curtains, lighting, bedding and decoration of the rooms etc we can make a stay at St Mary's as reassuring and comfortable as possible for patients.
