The AF turns 20 in 2011. To celebrate our landmark birthday, we'll review 2 decades-worth of public programme and advocacy - including work by some of the world's best architects and urban thinkers - and convert this to digital format and upload it on our website for the benefit of a broad audience.

    Situation

In the last 20 years, the AF has made an unmatched and invaluable contribution to Britain’s built environment and cultural sectors. These activities have been extensively documented (in multiple formats). However this fantastic potential resource, currently physically stored in our offices, is not yet accessible to the wider public. Hundreds of audio/video recordings and other materials are waiting to be converted to contemporary formats and made available for free public access and benefit.

    Solution

The AF Archive Project will make our historic material available to everyone through our website. To achieve this aim the AF team, with the support of a range of key supporters will review, edit, convert into digital format and upload two decades of archival material to the AF website. We want the AF archive to become a resource for everyone, an online library that is accessible at any time. Each project will be tagged for search by year, name, project type and speaker(s).
