Please help us to adapt an existing building to provide a vital residence for young disabled people who would not otherwise be able to benefit from life-changing opportunities at National Star.

    Situation

The majority of our students have more complex and severe disabilities than the National Star College was originally built to accommodate. For those who have conditions such as hearing difficulties and autism, busy and noisy environments can be very stressful and confusing. It's vital that we provide a quiet living area for them so that they have the opportunity to come to National Star to learn new skills and reach their potential.

    Solution

We have the opportunity to convert and adapt a building so that we can provide a quiet, calm living area where young people with these conditions can maximise their learning, develop new skills and regroup after a busy day facing new challenges. The building has easy access to all of the National Star College's specialist facilities and staff, but is set in a quiet area where a small number of young people can live together as a community.
